Welcome to this week’s Sourcing Spotlight.

In this weeks edition, we look at the rise of South Korea and Singapore as the Indo-Pacific’s new trade powerhouses. Also, the US and India are close to finalising a major trade agreement that could reduce tariffs from 50 percent to as low as 15 percent, reshape sourcing in textiles, auto components, agriculture and technology, and introduce new compliance rules for 2026. Here is what businesses need to know…

Feature Story

US India Trade Deal Nears Completion

The United States and India are edging closer to a landmark trade agreement that could reset a relationship that has been strained by tariffs and sanctions over the past two years. With most Indian exports still facing a 50 percent United States tariff, the new pact aims to reduce rates to between 15 and 25 percent in 2026 while expanding market access on both sides. This shift will reshape supply chains in textiles, auto components, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Compliance, however, is tightening, especially with the United States introducing mandatory electronic certificates of compliance from July 2026. For exporters and brands sourcing from India, the months ahead will require careful HS code checks, updated documentation, and stronger partnerships with United States importers.

Yet the opportunities are clear. The deal promises lower landed costs, better margins, and a more stable foundation for long term sourcing and manufacturing strategy.

From green shipping routes to cross-border data flows and premium agri-food access, the partnership sets a new benchmark for future-proofing supply chains in Asia.

Nvidia’s Record Quarter Reshapes the AI Supply Chain and Accelerates Global Chip Investment

This week’s semiconductor story centres on Nvidia’s record quarter and the renewed confidence it has brought to the global AI supply chain. With fifty seven billion dollars in quarterly revenue and a five hundred billion dollar pipeline extending to twenty twenty six, Nvidia has effectively silenced talk of an AI bubble and reignited investment energy across the chip sector. Rivals are benefitting from the uplift, yet remain constrained by export controls, supply chain bottlenecks, and intense competition at the high end of AI training hardware.

At the same time, Europe’s forty three billion euro Chips Act is reshaping the global investment map, with Germany and France emerging as the primary hubs for new fabs and advanced packaging. Nvidia’s strength is driving both optimism and urgency as countries and companies recalibrate their semiconductor strategies for the next wave of AI demand.
